As appealing as it may be to accept a form of “Christianity” that is about making our lives comfortable—we have to accept that to put our faith in Christ means to accept that we have to change.
We have to become less like “ourselves” and more like Jesus.
This modern world has created a false Gospel that is “me-centered”, all about how to make MY life “everything I want it to be”. This Gospel makes ourselves the main character of life. It makes getting our desires and wishes the primary “point” of life.
But the REAL Jesus talked about our desires and our selfish wants becoming secondary to living a godly life and loving other people radically. He tells us that The Father will take care of ME, so I should focus on “you’s” and “they’s”.
A disciple of Jesus Christ is outward-focused, not inward-obsessed.
Have you been following the Jesus Christ of the Bible? Or have you painted the name “Jesus” on the pursuit of your own wants, selfishness, and needs?
Be like Jesus, today.
If then there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by thinking the same way, having the same love, sharing the same feelings, focusing on one goal. Do nothing out of rivalry or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. Everyone should look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Make your own attitude that of Christ Jesus…
