Meet The Remnant - Gabby Heffelfinger

Gabby is a small yet mighty woman of God! She’s constantly serving God through The Remnant whether that’s on Mondays for cleaning, Thursdays with Rise youth, Sundays on Connections and Children’s church, or throughout the week with production team! She literally fills her week full with serving! And it’s her servant’s heart that God uses so mightily for His Kingdom!

*How long have you been at The Remnant? What brought you to The Remnant?

I’ve been at The Remnant about five years now! Originally I came because of the guy I was dating at the time. I kept coming back because it felt like home. People here were different. They took time to see me and talk to me.

*What makes The Remnant different?

This is the first church I have been to where it seems like the people are actually growing and changing. It is a community of people that want to be like Jesus. We are all at different stages of the journey and we all have a long way to go, but it is refreshing to be somewhere where I know I don't have to walk alone.

*How is God speaking to you lately / what is God teaching you?

God is teaching me to actively seek ways to do good and to give grace freely. In John chapter 8 there is a story about a woman caught in adultery about to be stoned, and Jesus steps in and turns her accusers away with a question. Then he tells her, she is not condemned either. The goodness and grace that Jesus offered here did not stop at not throwing stones, it was only finished when no one was throwing stones and the woman was free of her condemnation. I personally have lived my life where maybe I'm not throwing stones, but I am certainly not rushing in to defend people, but that is not enough. I was called to a higher standard than that.
