Meet The Remnant - Esther Bennett

Esther is one of the sweetest ladies at The Remnant, but don’t let her sweetness fool you! When she speaks, she speaks with powerful wisdom and she is a mighty prayer warrior. Esther leads our prayer team as well as serving as a Bible study leader and on our meal team. We know The Remnant wouldn’t be the same without the prayers of a prayer warrior like Esther!

*How long have you been at The Remnant?

I started attending the Remnant before it was called The Remnant, so approx 10-12 years ago. It was 2-4 Bible study/home church groups getting together on a Saturday evening for praise and worship time and a short devotional followed by basketball at the Center. I don’t remember how it got its name but the first design idea was puzzle pieces.

*What brought you to The Remnant?

I was invited by my nephew and my sons. I wanted to check out this new group of friends they were hanging with and be supportive of my nephew playing music and singing/leading worship at different times.

*What makes The Remnant different?

Growing up, most churches I attended were filled with old people who brought their grandchildren with them. Eventually as an adult, we landed in a family oriented church for many years. What is different for me at The Remnant is, this is the first church I’ve been a part of where I was the oldest one present for several years and every one else was half my age this was before I turned 50. Since then more older adults are now attending. It is awesome to see so many active young adults praising God!

*How is God speaking to you lately / what is God teaching you?

As my mentors and prayer support have been dying off over the last several years, I feel him pushing me to now step into that role and teach and pray for others. Do I feel ready for it? No. I have so much more to learn, yet he keeps impressing on me to teach what I have spent a lifetime learning from Him. With God’s grace and guidance I’m stepping into those roles however it may look.

He is teaching me to continue following Him closely and not to rely on myself because I fall short. I thank God He is so good at filling in the gaps! I’m looking forward to seeing what God does as we continue praying for our churches and community leaders.
