How to Find Thankfulness

Do you have a heart of thankfulness?

I know I often don’t. It’s easy to get caught up in my “day to day,” moving from one area of life to the next. From this task, to that task, and on and on it goes. In the fast paced nature of life anxiety, stress and worry slip in as I try to juggle it all. Before you know it, I’m stuck in the motions of life and there’s “no time” to be thankful.

What I find is that “thankfulness” has been replaced with “busyness” (a more palatable way of me over others). It’s not that I don’t want to be thankful, but instead I don’t make an intentional effort to actually be thankful.

See the thing is, thankfulness requires patience. It requires slowing down, and taking time to consider the people around you (and their position in your life). Time to process and remember how far you’ve come, and what God has done in your life. Being intentional from moment to moment to appreciate the “good.” It requires my time, energy and maybe even sacrifice.

It’s never too late to slow down, and truly appreciate the good in life. To appreciate friends and family around you. And to remember what God has done for you. Choose to be thankful today.

”Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus…”

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.
