Meet The Remnant - Brandon Hales

Sports are a huge part of the The Remnant culture and community, and it’s proven through the number of members who have started coming to The Remnant because of the sports offered. Brandon is just one of our members who got connected to a the Remnant because of our sports, specifically basketball. His passion for the game may have got him here, but now Brandon is a man seeking to be more like Jesus.

*What brought you to The Remnant?

I had a friend that went to The Remnant, and I knew they played basketball after mens group… I was really desperate to play basketball competitively. What kept me coming? It was 100% the truth in the word. I didn’t even know I was starving, but it fed me in ways I didn’t even know existed. The no gray areas in the Bible that pastor Todd preached, it just, for lack of a better term, woke me up. I’ve been at The Remnant for about 5 years now in October.

*What is your current role at The Remnant?

Currently I am serving on the childrens church team, as well as leading the connections team, and men’s group.

*How is God speaking to you lately / what is God teaching you?

Lately, I feel like God has been really pushing Roman’s 8:28 to me. “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.”

There is no way I can get in the way of His plan, there is such a freedom and rest that comes from it. That freedom is really just relaxation. It keeps me grounded when I want to panic and run away. I just have to trust that it’s all good, all the time.

Trusting like that is the freedom to step. Knowing that God is not going to let you drown if your stepping out leads to you going under. And even if you go under it’s good, because He said it is. No storm is bad at the end of the day. It will end good even if you can’t see it. It just will… He promised.
