One thing James is known for is his pure joy because he is literally always smiling! He’s always down for a good time and he loves getting in community every chance he gets—especially when it involves food! James has been around The Remnant forever, and we wouldn’t be the same without his big smile and even bigger love for his church family!
*How long have you been at The Remnant?
I’ve been going to The Remnant since its beginning stages, which is about 10 years now.
*What brought you to The Remnant?
To be honest, the food. Haha! At the very beginning when the church was being founded I actually had a family member invite me and say, “you should come hang out this Sunday. There will be free food,” so I came to check it out.
*What makes The Remnant different?
The Remnant is pretty unique in its mission for outreach and its focus on not just teaching and preaching to nonbelievers, but also educating Christians on solid Biblical principles to help them avoid “Christian trends” or cultural norms that aren’t biblical—especially when it comes to teachingthe true grace that God offers us.
*What is your current role at The Remnant?
I have helped with just about everything in the past but have settled into being a lead usher on our amazing connections team, and a teacher on our children’s church team, which does such an incredible job teaching kids about the Gospel, God, and how they are loved by Him. I help a little bit with the grounds and maintenance team as well and assist with various other ministries occasionally as needed.
*How is God speaking to you lately / what is God teaching you?
God has really been getting me to understand that our time on this earth is limited and that I need to be intentional with my time and spend it on things with purpose—do things that impact people, love my family, and actually do things I enjoy to spark passion in my life no matter how scary that may seem! God gave me a lot of hopes and dreams, as He does to many people, and I think He's trying to get me to see that pursuing those things is okay. I just need to make sure I don’t forget to give Him the glory because any good I do comes from his power inside me.
